ロンドンの主要駅のひとつユーストン駅。リヴァプール行きのインターシティ（日本でいう新幹線）に乗るために駅構内のベンチで座っていたら、反対側のベンチで座っていた男がまるで日本でなら銭湯で気分が良くなったおっさんが演歌を歌うかのように、この曲を口ずさんでいた。歴史的名盤「Ziggy Stardust」の最初を飾る曲。

空で歌えるほど覚えていたので、僕も反対側のベンチで、彼に合わせて口ずさんだ。日本での演歌は、彼の国ではロックなんだな。
